You cannot take your American education, your American mentality, your western savior complex into Africa. You cannot use America as a blueprint for the changes you want to see in Africa. You cannot think that you are more educated, more knowledgeable, more qualified…simply because you were educated in America.
Do not think you know what Africa needs simply because you visited that one summer 2 years ago. Do not think you know what Africa needs simply because you hear the stories your parents tell you. Do not think you know what Africa needs because of what BBC or CNN reports.
Realize that you are not exempt from the colonial mentality. You too are capable of it.
